Math Honor Society

MAO

Mu Alpha Theta is dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematical computations. Members are able to compete in local, state, and regional competitions. We have an induction ceremony at the end of the year.

Requirements:
-Must either be enrolled in or have completed Algebra II (No grade level requirement)
-Must acquire two teacher recommendations (one must be a math teacher)
-Counselor approval
-Must have a weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher in Math courses
-Must obtain 4 hours per semester

Hours may be obtained through:

  • Tutoring in math subjects through the school’s Peer Mentors program
  • Attending meetings
  • Participating in competitions
  • Helping a math teacher (grading papers, etc.)
  • Going to AMC Practices

Officer Applications:
